I was recently asked to comment on my predictions for the 2010 Awards Season. Here is what I had to say:
2010 Awards Season Beauty Looks and Trends
A Natural Glow
Skin that is flawless and dewy is the look everyone will be trying to achieve this awards season. Don’t expect to see heavy spray tans and bronzers. What you can expect to see is perfectly primed skin, with a touch of strategically applied liquid illuminator. That is the best way to obtain the "I'm glowing but not wearing any make-up look."
Statement Lips
The bold color lip trend will continue this year before starting to fizzle as we head into next season. Shades of red were all over the Fall runway, so expect to see lips in deep plums, jewel-toned reds, and bright pinks. By pairing a strong lip with a simple eye, it completes a polished, yet not overly done look.
Defined Eyes
From dramatic and smoky… to strong, defined brows, an eye that makes simple, yet intense statement will be worn by many. A bold brow with a neutral eye looks fantastic when paired with a bright red lip…while a dark eye and a nude lip will also be considered on-trend.
In either case, we will definitely see the stars choosing one feature (eye vs. lip) to make their beauty statement.
Old School Glamour
Pure, glowing skin and defined features can only mean one thing: Old Hollywood Glamour
Expect stars to turn up the glam factor this year. According to several celebrity make-up artists with whom I work, their clients will be wearing products on the carpet that help them make one simple proclamation: I am a star.
And, keep in mind: extreme glamour doesn’t necessarily equate to heavy makeup. It means choosing and wearing products (i.e. - crème-based shadows, liners and blushes) that are blendable and buildable. Such products can easily create a fashion-forward look….but also one that is also extremely wearable in the "real world."
